Formatting the Name Appearing on a Card or Story Visual Representation

The name that appears on the graphical representation of a story or card can be controlled using the nameFormat attribute of the backlog section. Internal values and model attributes can be replaced at simulation time.

Placeholders -

{0} - The unique internal id given to each story or card. This is an integer starting from 0.

{1} - The name of the story or card. This name itself can be formatted (see below)

{2} - The order value associated with this backlog item (blank for simple backlogs in Kanban)

{3} - The name of the deliverable or blank if there is no deliverable

{4} - The order value of the deliverable containing this backlog entry

For example (full example attached to this article)  -

         <backlog  nameFormat="{0} {3} / {1} {4}.{2}">

            <deliverable order="1" name="D1">
                <custom order="3" count="5" name="xxx" />
                <custom order="4" count="5" name="yyy" />
            </deliverable>

            <deliverable order="2" name="D2">
                <custom order="5" count="30" name="zzz" />
            </deliverable>

        </backlog>

Produces cards that look like -

Mentioned above is that the name value for each backlog entry can also contain special placeholders. These are -

{0} - The unique internal id given to each story or card. This is an integer starting from 0.

{1} - always blank (why? because we wanted the same placeholder numbers at the execute and the backlog level.)

{2} - The order value associated with this backlog item (blank for simple backlogs in Kanban)

{3} - The name of the deliverable or blank if there is no deliverable

{4} - The order value of the deliverable containing this backlog entry
